Coaxial
Digital Audio is the highest resolution, highest bandwidth
option for the interconnectivity of S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital
Interface Format), including both uncompressed PCM digital,
as well as compressed digital audio formats such as Dolby
Digital™ and DTS®. Many theories abound as to the
proper construction of a coaxial digital cable, but in reality
it is very simple; the best coaxial audio interconnect should
be a high quality 75ohm impedance interconnect, preferably
with at least two types of integrated shielding. And yes...
contrary to some opinions, coaxial digital audio does utilize the very same cable construction as a single channel
of analogue video (eg composite video).
The
