Flat Profile
The most obvious difference between our new GEN-4 HDMI cables and older generations is the new flat profile which improves electrical and physical properties of the cables.
Electrically improved twisted pair linearity enhances the cable bandwidth, supporting higher picture resolutions in a more compact cable. Additionally the use of solid core conductors offer increased performance, especially on silver plated models.
Physically, The thin profile provides greatly improved cable flexibility and the tightest bend radius in its class.
The connector shells are constructed of lightweight aluminium and well within HDMI spec (many brands are not). This maintains connector strength while significantly reducing the strain on the HDMI sockets of your valuable equipment and minimising the chance of the connector coming free after installation. Our proprietary internal cable retention system ensures full performance and pull strength between the cable and connector independently of the shell to achieve the highest performing cable-connect transition available.
Advanced Soldering
Our previous generation cables employed hand soldering methods, as do most brands of HDMI cables today. Our B.O.S.S.™ (Bitrate Optimized Soldering System) termination uses a hi-tech automated soldering process to ensure complete consistency in size and quality of each solder joint – all 18 joints per cable end. The result is measurably reduced BER (Bit Error Rate) through reduced jitter, the enemy of any digital bitstream.
EVX enhancements
Our flagship EVX GEN-4 boasts 7% silver content applied as thick plating - a new benchmark for the top class of HDMI cables giving unsurpassed colour, detail and depth of field to the image.
EVX also has our exclusive cotton/nylon sleeve for a soft, silky texture. Why? Simply because it looks nice, like a great paint job on a car. Many cables on the market use a stiffer braided sleeve, claiming that it reduces vibration. This is marketing spin – vibration is not a problem in digital interconnects.
We prefer to tell it like it is. We’ve certainly made it look very nice but it’s what’s under the hood that really makes EVX the best you can buy.
