Analogue Stereo Audio
Analogue stereo audio is still a common and often preferred or required method of connecting 2-channel equipment. As the name suggests, two separate conductors carry an analog signal for left and right channel information. Carrying a low-level analog signal these cables are subject to many types of interference and distortion. In pursuit of transparent reproduction, careful construction and shielding techniques must be employed to reduce external noise. Interaction between the conductors, shielding and dielectric must all be considered carefully to reduce distortion and attenuation at different frequencies. Finally, termination methods can also affect the end result.
