Coaxial Digital Audio and Composite Video
Coaxial Digital Audio is the highest resolution, highest bandwidth option for the interconnectivity of S/PDIF, including both uncompressed PCM digital, as well as compressed digital audio formats such as Dolby Digital™ and DTS®.
Many theories abound as to the proper construction of a coaxial digital cable, but in reality it is very simple; the best coaxial audio interconnect should be a high quality 75Ω impedance interconnect, preferably with at least two types of integrated shielding.
Contrary to some opinions, coaxial digital audio does utilise the very same cable construction as a single channel of analogue video (e.g. composite video).
