THX® was founded in 1983 by legendary filmmaker George Lucas as a high fidelity audio visual reproduction standard. It’s primary function is to assure that the quality of the cinematic experience for the audience is consistent with the grand vision of the filmmaker/s. THX made its worldwide cinematic debut with “The Return of the Jedi”, the third instalment in the Star Wars™ original trilogy, and has since gone on to co-design and/or certify world-class cinemas, recording studios and many premium audio-visual products around the globe.

Products that wear the ‘THX Certified’ logo have endured exhaustive testing to ensure the highest performance and adherence to the industry’s most rigorous standards. The latest addition is the new THX Certified 4K Interconnect Program.

Partnership

Kordz began its affiliation with THX Ltd in 2011, acting in an advisory capacity on the implications of the HDMI connectivity profile on the communications link between THX Certified devices. With the later release of the HDMI 2.0 Specification, and rise of 4K UHD displays in the market, THX recognised the critical role of the HDMI interconnect, and responded by developing the new THX Certified 4K Interconnect program for HDMI cables. The affiliation between Kordz and THX evolved in a formal partnership in 2014, with Kordz being the sole pilot brand globally for this new prestigious standard. Kordz is now a proud THX partner along with Panasonic, Sharp, Stewart Film screen, M&K Sound, Epson, Pioneer, Runco and many more.

THX Certified 4K Interconnect Program

The THX Interconnect Certification Program for 4K was developed specifically to benchmark HDMI cables capable of supporting HDMI 2.0 bandwidth demands. “Each cable will need to pass approximately 75 THX laboratory tests that span not only electrical and communication protocol performance, but also mechanical integrity and interoperability.” - THX press release, December 15, 2014.

Kordz is the first HDMI cable brand in the world to to achieve THX Certification under this rigorous new program. Both the Kordz R.3 commercial series rack install HDMI cable, and the fifth generation EVS-R premium residential HDMI cable debuted the THX certification mark at CES 2015, Las Vegas Nevada.
