December 01, 2025 Case Study: Playback Distribution’s Debut Theatre Demo Runs Flawlessly on Kordz Cabling

In one of the most challenging demo environments, Kordz infrastructure delivered uninterrupted, reference-quality performance that wowed CEDIA Expo 2025 audiences and proved every connection counts.

Introduction

At CEDIA Expo 2025, where the industry’s top integrators and brands gather to showcase the future of home entertainment, Playback Distribution made a powerful impression with its first-ever active home cinema demo—a high-performance 11.6.6-channel theatre built in partnership with KRIX, Trinnov Audio, MC² Audio, Epson, Seymour Screen Excellence and Kaleidescape. Behind every breathtaking moment of that immersive experience was one vital constant: Kordz connectivity

Playback Distribution’s ongoing demonstration quickly created a buzz on the show floor, with over 400 attendees stopping by to experience a 20-minute demo. Featured clips from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Prey and Ghostbusters: Afterlife showcased the clarity and colour accuracy of the video components. For the audiophiles in the group, Playback Distribution also presented audio-only sequences to showcase the dynamic range, precision and enveloping sound that emerges when quality products meet quality cabling.

“We’ve participated in audio shows around the country, which mostly focused on hi-fi and two-channel. This was our first full-scale active home theatre demo room,” says Tyler Nelson, Business Development Manager at Playback Distribution. “We wanted to create something integrators could really envision in the homes of their clients that was powerful but also relatable and achievable. That meant building a system that was both inspiring and rock-solid reliable. That’s why we turned to Kordz.”

Signal Integrity: Where Performance Meets Practicality

The demo featured an 11.6.6 KRIX loudspeaker layout, with the front speakers positioned behind an acoustically transparent 160-inch diagonal Seymour Screen Excellence screen. Video content was delivered by an Epson QL7000 projector; audio by a Trinnov Altitude 32 processor and MC² Audio amplifiers.

Behind the scenes, a robust backbone of Kordz’ PRO4 Active HDMI Cable ensured flawless high-bandwidth video transfer from Kaleidescape content servers, while ONE Series Speaker Cable and interconnects delivered uncompromised audio integrity from rack to speaker.

“When you’re creating this kind of AV environment, there’s no room for error,” Nelson continues. “You need a system that will run all day, every day, without a hitch. With Kordz, we knew the performance and reliability would be there. Their cables are easy to work with, easy to pull, especially for long speaker runs, and they simply perform. You can tell the quality is built in.”

Not Your Ordinary HDMI Cable

Reliability You Can Hear (and See)

Live demo environments at trade shows like CEDIA Expo are notoriously challenging: fluctuating power, ambient noise from neighbouring rooms, and constant operational demands. Under these unforgiving conditions, signal integrity is non-negotiable.

“There are so many variables to deal with, but the one thing that must remain constant is signal integrity,” Nelson explains. “Without clean, consistent handshakes, the demo means nothing. Cabling matters because it’s what ensures you’re actually hearing and seeing the system at its best.”

Thanks to the integrity of the Kordz infrastructure, Playback Distribution’s demonstrations delivered the full potential of every product. Across three days and dozens of continuous demo sessions, not a single signal dropout, handshake error, or performance hiccup occurred.

Partnership and Proof

For Playback Distribution, utilising Kordz cabling for their inaugural home cinema demo wasn’t just about quality of product; it was about partnership and peace of mind.

“Kordz is a brand we trust,” says Nelson. “Their reps and support team stand behind the product, and that gave us total confidence in such a demanding environment. When the cabling is solid, the rest of the system can truly shine.”

Following the success of the CEDIA Expo demo, Playback Distribution plans to showcase a scaled-down version of the system at other events, continuing its mission to bring high-performance, reliable and attainable cinema experiences to more integrators and clients.

“Every connection matters,” says James Chen, Managing Director of Kordz. “Playback Distribution’s success at CEDIA Expo shows how professional grade cabling enables the full potential of high-end systems. We’re proud to support ambitious partners like Playback Audio who share our commitment to performance, reliability and the integrator experience.”
